Writing By Angie Pines
Huntington Beach, CA.- (July 12, 2009)-  PETaPOTTY was a proud partner at The first annual SurfinPaws Dog Jam, a surf competition for dogs of all ages, sizes and abilities, benefiting the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, that took place on Saturday July 11, 2009. The event started at the Huntington Beach Dog Beach with a Dog Surf Competition and finished with an elaborate Dog friendly Hollywood style, Red Carpet awards party complete with a doggie fashion show, awards ceremony & silent auction held at the Waterfront Hilton in Huntington Beach.

The first annual SurfinDogs Surf Competition drew over 45 dogs that surfed their way into over 5,000 spectators’ hearts. As the dogs strutted their stuff on the red carpet, and mingled with their owners at the after party, PETaPOTTY was on hand throughout the event to make sure The Pets had a place to do their business. The Pooches were definitely pampered at this event; dogs were even greeted with Mutt-tinis as they waited to strut their stuff on the Red Carpet.

PETaPOTTY has been featured on many of today’s hottest TV shows such as MTV’s, Rob & Big’s Fantasy Factory, where PETaPOTTY built a special Custom Poo Garden for Rob Dyrdek’s best friends Meaty & Beefy. PETaPOTTY was also recently featured on E! Entertainment Celebrity Dog Special, A day in the life of a Hollywood dog, as well MSNBC, ABC, LA Times and many more.

About PETaPOTTY

About SurfinPaws
SurfinPaws was started by René Bruce in 2009. It was inspired by his dog Kia’s first surf competition that was put on by a friend of Bruce’s in Del Mar, California. Kia, seven year-old Jack Russell Terrier, is the “spokes dog” of the event. Kia has been riding boards, scooters and jet skis since she was a pup when, at 16 weeks, her paws hit a skateboard for the first time. Since then Kia, has been featured on various news sites, Reuters, Yahoo! and even National Geographic and The Discovery Channel because of her riding talents. PETaPOTTY flies to New York and takes on 3000 dogs

without comments

Los Angeles based PETaPOTTY flies to New York and takes on 3000 dogs in a week at the 133rd Westminster dog show. They say if you can make it there you can make it anywhere, well PETaPOTTY definitely made it there. Let the urine flow. From The hotel Pennsylvania’s Penn Top Ballroom where 300+ dogs used the PETaPOTTIES to the Hotel Pennsylvania’s green room where the PETaPOTTIES accommodated 3000+ dogs. The PETaPOTTIES managed to contain tens of gallons of urine in their lower trap pans. Top Dogs from around the world converged on the Hotel Penn’s green room to use the facilities ranging from potty facilities to dog grooming stations to doggy masseuses. It was a raging river of urine and the PETaPOTTIES withstood the torrent. The hotel was so happy with the performance of the PETaPOTTIES that they spread several units around the hotel in key dog traffic areas.

While in town PETaPOTTY owner/creator Brandon Hochman took in the entire Westminster Dog Show. He was able to rub elbows with all the top dogs including last year’s winner Uno. Brandon and Uno bonded and had many in depth conversations about dog’s potty needs.

The entire Westminster week was a huge success for PETaPOTTY. PETaPOTTY plans to make an annual pilgrimage to the event and become part of the Westminster tradition.

The big night is approaching for 2,400 pampered dogs in New York.

From New York — Page 2 here at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, which begins Monday, but first the PETaPOTTY party.

Try saying that three times in a row while having a drink and watching the floor to avoid stepping on a Shih Tzu.

The Celtics are playing across the street in Madison Square Garden, while here at the Fashion Show on the 18th floor of the Hotel Pennsylvania, hundreds of guests and dogs are dressed alike, Eli the Chihuahua wearing a wonderful silver satin fabric shirt, full vest, of course, with black and clear rhinestones.

Eli the Chihuahua, by the way, is better dressed than Myung J. Chun, The Times’ videographer, who is here to document the next few days. Chun, told he’d be shooting video of the dogs in New York, initially thinks he’s going to a Clippers game.

AIRFARE TO New York, cab ride, hotel room, expensive restaurants and there is no prize money at Westminster. Yet there are more than 2,400 dogs here representing 170 breeds competing for ribbons and an ego boost — Choking Dogs for some reason not recognized as an official breed, but still California with 265 entrants to lead all states.

A beagle, Uno, won last year. A Brussels griffon, Lincoln, is favored this year. A writer, Charlotte Reed, quotes Uno extensively in something called “the blue boo,” and people think Uno is special.

There are 1,000 dogs staying in the Pennsylvania, and while I wonder who is checking into these rooms next week, there’s no containing the excitement of Jerry Grymek, who is wearing a name tag that identifies him as hotel “doggie concierge.”

“We welcome you with open paws, ha, ha,” Jerry says, obviously wanting to be a doggie concierge ever since he was a little pup.

“Oh, let me show you our doggie spaw — ha, ha,” he says, “where everyone is considered a VIP, ha, ha, very important pooch.”

There isn’t a blade of grass or a tree within miles of here, “but we have a loo downstairs for our guests with separate his and her areas because everyone gets their privacy,” says the concierge.

Pampered Pups Primp for Westminster- ABC NEWS

without comments

By GIGI STONE
Feb. 7, 2009

For a champion Havenese like four-and-a-half-year-old Lotus from Tampa, Fla., primping for the big competition can be a lengthy process. Between blowouts, pedicures, and teeth cleanings, she hardly has time to think.

Uno 2008 Westminster Kennel Club Show Champion

Cameras prepare for top dogs at annual Westminister Kennel Club show.

So to help ease the tension, Field treated Lotus to a specially designed canine massage. It’s one of a number of amenities being offered at the Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City, where 1,000 out of 1,700 rooms are filled this week with dogs, all headed for Westminster.

The hotel also offers a dog beauty parlor with grooming stations, blow dryers and aromatherapy, a pet psychic, and special treadmills for the pooches to work out on. There’s even a “doggie concierge,” Jerry Grymek, who hand out biscuits as guests arrive.

While starlets on the West Coast are gearing up for the Academy Awards and their big night on the red carpet, in New York divas like Lotus are preparing for their debut on the green carpet.

Westminster is the Oscars for the four-legged set. The fetching Fidos are going to compete among 2,500 dogs and 170 purebreds over who has the most elegant gait, dramatic poses and overall beauty.

Last year all the fanfare at Westminster was over Uno, after the beagle won the trophy for the first time in the show’s 100 years.

Uno retired a few months later and has spent the past year on a celebrity whirlwind tour, signing pawgraphs, somehow throwing out the first pitch at baseball games, even visiting the White House.

T.J. Simers bites back at readers critical of his Westminster dog show coverage
3:53 PM, February 15, 2009

Our colleague, sports columnist T.J. Simers, had never been to a dog show before he went to Madison Square Garden last week to cover Westminster, the grandaddy of them all.

Simers has a longstanding reputation for offending (it’s sort of his thing). And, rather naturally, he heard from many dog fanciers who took offense at his coverage of Westminster.

Particularly irksome to many readers was Simers’ use of the word “ugly” to describe Westminster’s canine competitors, including his referral to Hound group winner Tiger Woods as “a malnourished mangy mutt, also known as a Scottish deerhound.”

As reader Bill Todman Jr. commented, “The funny aspect of your Westminster Dog Show ‘coverage’ was you commenting on which animals were ugly. Talk about irony
– you have to be one of those who looks in the mirror and sees Brad Pitt looking back. And since you haven’t ever ‘kissed a dog,’ I know a 100-pound Rottweiler who would very much like to meet you in person.”

Simers’ response? “Looking like Brad Pitt, I get this all the time.”

Another big offender? Simers’ assertion that “No kid in America is safe as the Brussels griffon, the nasty little snapper, takes the next spot” as the winner of the Toy group. (He’d be referring to little Lincoln, pictured here.)
